Skyline Music Turns 19!

It is so hard to believe how fast the musical time flies by. 19 years ago, Skyline Music Studio, Calgary, was set up. Our first location was just off Mcknight Trail (central) near the Pisces Pet Emporium. We started with an upper floor that had 2 bathrooms, waiting room and 2 large piano rooms. The first ever teacher was of course, the boss, Lisa and a year later, her dear friend Sheila came along to help out. A year or two after, Lisa’s husband Russ came along to boost the guitar and drum department. A few years later, Cindi, Mariah and Maria (Misa) joined forces and Skyline Calgary was hopping along! We catered to over 100 local students, with even a handful driving from Cochrane, Okotoks and Chestermere. It wasn’t long before we expanded to the lower level of the Calgary location on Skyline Crescent, and one recital a year turned in to FOUR!

In 2016, it was time to expand the school over to Airdrie. A budding town that didn’t have more than a studio or two for lessons. Skyline Music Studio adapted in to Skyline Music, and for 2 years, there were TWO locations. Airdrie and Calgary. Later that year, Skyline Music closed its doors in Calgary and transitioned all students over to the larger location, boasting 2 floors and a huge back warehouse. Our long time teachers, Sheila and Cindi went in to semi retirement, and Skyline Music changed its path to being the ONLY exclusive piano, theory and keyboard facility in Airdrie. We welcomed  new teachers, Megumi, Claire, Susan and Jennifer to join the next venture where we continue to educate over 100 students.

Skyline Music prides itself on creating a memorable classroom environment for all students to learn in. From large theme rooms to unique decor, the ever so busy coffee/tea/hot chocolate station, and to the waiting room which houses a constant supply of candies and treat bowls….Skyline Music is a place where memories are made and students of all ages are welcome to find their own identity and confidence boost through caring instruction. From the littlest beginners to adult students (right up to their 80s), we are a place that makes music happen!

19 years has seen us go through some highs and some times of uncertainty, but through it all we are so grateful for the incredible families that have (and continue to) support(ed) us and our vision. We are in our “almost 10th” year of operating in Airdrie and can’t be more grateful to create a beautiful space for families to join us.
