Saryssa Thiara

Saryssa began her musical journey at the age of three, taking her first piano class with Lisa Ammirati at the Yamaha Music School. Since then, she has remained deeply committed to music, studying piano for over eighteen years under Lisa’s guidance. She has completed Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) certifications up to Level 8 in both practical and theory, and is currently preparing for her Level 9 examination.

Saryssa began teaching piano in 2023 and has since gained experience working with students of all ages, including those preparing for RCM examinations. Her teaching approach emphasizes individualized learning, adapting each lesson to suit a student’s unique strengths and needs. She is passionate about creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, building confidence, and developing a genuine love for music.

Saryssa is currently completing her fourth year at the University of Calgary, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Political Science. She serves as Vice President Academic for the Faculty of Arts Students’ Association, Vice President of Research & Education for the Pre-Law Women’s Society, and is a Research Assistant with The Family Advocates Canada.

Beyond piano, Saryssa has a strong passion for the arts. She has had 15 years of ballet training, and participated in many dance competitions over the past year with her hip hop team. In her free time, Saryssa enjoys spending time with family and friends, being with her dog, and discovering new TV shows!
