Megumi is a classically trained pianist who was born and raised in Japan. She attended the Jinai Women’s College in Fukui Japan and graduated from the music department with a major in Music/Classical Performance.

In 1988 and 1990 she attained first place in the Fukui Prefecture (provincial) Classical Piano competition. In 1997, Megumi was selected to be in the National level for the Japanese Teachers Association Classical Piano Competition.

She has been a piano teacher for over 28 years. She has performed with orchestras at various concerts, events and competitions. Megumi worked for a few years as a group piano teacher under the Yamaha method while in Japan. She passed the Level 5 grade which is considered the teacher Level for this program. She then began to teach lessons privately and continued to perform at weddings, restaurants and parties in her home country.

Since moving to Canada she has been an independent piano teacher and has become a well loved piano accompanist for the Airdrie Community Choir since 2022. She is a mother of three and loves travelling and snowboarding.
