Míša Štorková
Míša began playing piano in 2007, and has been surrounded by music their whole life. They played a variety of instruments in Middle School and High School music programs, including percussion and clarinet. This allowed them to explore various musical interests as part of an award-winning musical ensemble, performing around Alberta at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Alberta International Band Festival, and Canadian Rocky Mountain Festival. During this time, they also won Highest Theory Mark award for Music 10 and 20, and participated in community choir. Over the years, piano has emerged as Míša’s main musical focus, and they are currently playing at a Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Grade 10 level. They have also completed up to the RCM Grade 8 Theory (Advanced Rudiments), achieving First Class Honours with Distinction.
Míša greatly enjoys getting to know their students and cultivating their musical talents. They pride themself on fostering a supportive, affirming, and inclusive environment for their students, no matter their background. Míša has worked extensively with Neurodiverse and Disabled students, led workplace accessibility training sessions, and participated in Persons with Developmental Disability keynote groups. They are passionate about making the arts accessible to everyone, and view both music and visual art as a right, rather than a privilege.
In their off time, Míša enjoys perusing their many creative talents, exploring new music, and caring for their (extensive) houseplant collection. They are currently working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Studies at the University of Calgary, specializing in printmaking, textile, and analog photography.
