Claire Fisk

Claire Fisk

Claire Fisk has been an avid music lover for as long as she can remember. She took her first piano lesson when she was 7 and was instantly hooked. For the next 11 years she studied piano under the tutelage of Karina Witbeck earning her Grade 9 Royal Conservatory while still in high school. While in school she enrolled in concert band as a flutist, under the direction of Ryan Heseltine, as well as the school jazz band as a pianist, and percussion ensemble. She also joined the Raymond High School Show Choir and thoroughly enjoyed each performance they gave.

After high school she went to Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton and earned a diploma in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music, majoring in composition, graduating with honours. While attending she had the opportunity to study under Bill Richards, Andrew Glover, and Jamie Phillips, as well as attending masterclasses taught by Hal Galper. She performed as both the main instrumentalist, and as an accompanist for various showcases, and other student performances. She could often be found at jam nights at Edmonton’s famous Yardbird Suite.

Since then, she has grabbed every opportunity to pursue music, volunteering as a church organist, and accompanist to various choirs and musical numbers over the years. Today she has been teaching piano for 8 years, putting her composition skills to the test to create and arrange songs for her students, and is loving every moment of it.
